Widow Walk Lane

I consulted on the look and basic mechanics of this piece. Really cool short ghost film. I built fingers and the control mechanics for the fingers, and puppeteered the arm. I did the leather work as well. Quite a nice example of found object style. Kudos to Jennie McIver for sourcing the great pieces and putting it together.

Monkey King with Tears of Joy Theater

image

I wish I had taken more shots during this rehearsal, from January  2014, I built this show in 1994 at Tears Of Joy with the incomparable puppeteer Yang Feng a 7th generation puppet master, and I mean master in every sense of the word. Beautiful puppets with an amazing control system he invented during the  tumultuous Chinese Cultural Revolution. He passed the secret system on to me and now I’m the holder of the knowledge.

I loved working on this film, written and directed by Toby Froud. Toby wrote and designed a truly lovely world. Hope we can return to it someday soon.
